  I haven't been to this place in years, and for good reason. Went to Boone every year in high school for a band event and this was the only parish. Granted, I know they've changed pastors since the last time I came (six years ago), so this isn't entirely fair judgement. Still, when I came there, I frankly was shocked and put off by their execution of the liturgy (as in LITERAL execution!). First off, when we came in the holy water was missing. When we asked where it was, the man looked at us like we were stupid and said, "It's Lent, we don't have any holy water"-something ONLY done on Good Friday! The Mass (which never started on time) that followed was the most uncomfortable I've ever been. The pastor, Rev. Joe Mulligan, either didn't know how to celebrate Mass properly or simply just didn't give a crap. Never in another church have I heard the Gospel adlibbed. His homilies were extremely offbeat and hard to understand, and his demeanor was just very unsettling. Occasionally he'd walk around with his eyes closed, and even turn away from the congregation to speak to the choir! You know it's a bad sign when he mentions, and I quote, "my old ways of working outside the Church." Certainly will not come back, even if the leadership is better.

  We have been here a couple of times. It is a very sweet feeling church. Nice folk band. Everyone seemed nice and we felt welcome. Enjoyed the Mass and the mountain view out the side window. A real "mountaintop" faith experience.
